  Renovation Randomness

So I hear lots of noise and run into the front/living/storage/Wii/study/kid/play room (the once formal living room is finally useful as a sort of a kid den). Here it is not quite finished, and I didn't know what was going on at first, but the kids decided to entertain themselves--one of my favorite things about my kids is their creativity.

And yet another random toe shot on my camera.

Creepy Night in Dade City

We moved a bunch of stuff from some storage units to some family buildings in Dade City. This one is just gorgeous--Norman & Brenda restored it--but it used to be a funeral home, and I can't resist the goofy references.

On the way there, we hit a DUI checkpoint at 7:45 p.m. Who knew? And of course Cam threw up in the car. The more police showed up at the building to check us out, but I pointed out that we were putting stuff IN, not taking stuff OUT, and the guy looked pretty confused, but nodded and left. Brenda was a really good sport that night. So Norman had bought a great library (with a rolling ladder!) that didn't fit in their house (yay for me) and we wanted to pick that up while we had the storage-moving truck. The ordeal ended up lasting until after 1 a.m.

Therapy for my Cat

So the cat picture is relevant. James started having accidents all of a sudden. The #2 kind. Not good. I was already flipping out, but then there was blood in it, so I dropped everything and raced to the vet (not an easy task with four kids, a renovation, and a Travis).

I get there and they do a thorough exam. I was a little worried since he is almost ten. He is in perfect health. ??? So they start grilling me with questions. I realize that I am now in some sort of kitty therapy session. So to make an extremely long and painful story short, we narrow the problem down to the fact that we had gotten a new mattress and the bedskirt didn't fit, so his daytime hideout had been exposed and he was stressed.

Stressed. The dead-serious prescription was a covering for under the bed.

Good Things are Happening

I loved this shot of my boys at the counter. I knocked out the wall between the kitchen & great room (surprise, Travis!) and it has been so much fun to have the kids eat there, or people hang out and chat there, or just be involved in the house from the kitchen. I LOVE IT.

Kids at Starbucks. Even when I'm ready to go shopping, they run and get a table like they are going to stay a while. So sometimes we do.

More fun around the house

So here is Riley drawing in a notebook. But in typical Riley form, he is way outside the box. He got a bunch of Lego Minifigs and drew a land for them to play in. Sometimes he'll get cars and draw out roads for them to drive on, too. Or create a game with playing pieces. Too fun.

And as usual, here is Cam with an iPhone and an open cup.

More Riley & Cam...

Usually the number of pics for each kid come out about even, but I ended up with a bunch of Riley & Cam pictures here. Oops.

Amy snapped this picture of Cam in his jammies, and Morgan made him into an angel with an iPhone app. Adorable!

Horsing Around

The kids just love going out to Poppa & Nanny's (Norman & Brenda's) house. They have horses and donkeys and dogs and cats. There is a kid room there with bunk beds and toys and a craft table, and a pair of boots that Riley ALWAYS puts on and wears for the duration. I'm not sure how long they'll fit or what we'll do when they don't fit anymore.

We always stop and get about ten pounds of carrots on the way up and feed the animals when we get there. So much fun. Then we ride the four-wheelers and get really dirty.

And Finally...Don't Be an Ass

You knew I couldn't post a donkey picture without a bad comment, right? These are miniature donkeys and very sweet. I don't think they're the smartest creatures, and they escape often. And Travis and I always have to make (_*_) jokes, because we are quite immature. There are stories about the donkeys escaping after being tied to lightweight chairs, and getting out and running through the neighborhood ("To catch an ass, you must think like an ass"), and so much more.

Grow up, really.
