july scorcher

July 4th Dig-Dug

Some families have barbecues, others go see fireworks shows, ours goes on a Paul Bunyan-esque rampage through the yard each year.  This year we set aside one hour to take the palm stump out of the pool.  It had been sending ugly blue tiles and all sorts of icky filter-clogging junk into the pool daily, and was way too big for the little circle here.   Easier said than done.  Two chainsaws, two pickaxes, and five hours later, the thing was finally out.  Travis bought a pickaxe at Home Depot, and after four hits onto the roots, the thing bent into a 90-degree L.  My punishment for laughing was having to return it, where I was informed we ate too many Wheaties for breakfast.  So the pool is still full of holes, the marsite is nearly gone, what tiles are left are hideous, and the bricks have to be reassembled daily, at least one piece of it looks a little more together.   Travis and Tal wound up the day with a fireworks show in the backyard...impressive (and thankfully injury-free).

Kimono Krazy; Juice Injustice

Okay I love Kimono pajamas.  I'm completely nuts.  A friend sent me to the BabyGap pajama sale, and these incredibly snuggly white ones were practically free, so I just sent Travis back for the blue ones.  (He is conveniently at the mall watching Transformers today.)

On a sadder note, I somehow got two crib mattresses into the car with three babies and a Babies-R-Us helper who was not so good at logistics (I had to take over, of course) in 100% humidity, when Reagan gently (!) reminded me that I forgot to take him on the fire truck ride, so out of the carseats came the three babies.  Ever so thirsty and sweaty, I reminded myself we could go to a Starbucks drive-thru for a Pomegranate juice (since I can't drink pop and water wasn't going to cut it).  Well, guess what...Starbucks discontinued my drink!
Pool Fun!
Reagan's favorite bedtime phrase is Pool Fun.  Travis carries all three on laps.  Riley wasn't willing to do his stunts on video yesterday, so we'll have to try again.   Mr. Hollywood here was enjoying a little sunshine.
Hat Mania

Bought these cute little outfits (puppy dog trim) with hats.  Reagan would not take the hat off even at check-out, and has barely taken it off since.

I am having camera issues.  Well, more like kid issues.  They keep grabbing it and changing the settings, and I am end up with grainy pictures.  Have fixed for the next batch.

And More Hat Mania

I took 26 pictures in one sitting, and the first ended up being the keeper.  His eyes were so sweet I didn't mess with touch-ups.  Even though the camera still seems to be on the wrong setting.  I missed the spitup-free window, but the pictures are still fun.  Love the falling-down one below!

Mom, I can't sit up yet, remember???                       Okay, photo session is officially OVER!
Random Stuff
And in more random life notes...the kids built a fort around the baby.  I think this redhead is Riley, more by the way the collar is sitting, and because Reagan mostly had the camera this morning.   Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the rest of the summer, so we're looking for some indoor fun... and YES, I have already killed the plant pictured at the top of the page, in case you were wondering.

Really, Really Random

The clothes are laid out for our big photo session this weekend. I can't get over how sweet they look, finally had to take a picture.  I'm pretty sure they won't always be willing to wear the little traditional outfits with white Keds.

If that isn't random enough, Reagan took a picture of the clock in the bathroom and was SO proud of it. He kept showing us the match between the camera and the clock on the wall.  Hilarious.

and so ends July
The best moment of a rotten week was watching the kids have a fabulous car wash. Tal came up with the idea, and they loved getting dirty. And then there was a long bath.  Camden is six months old and eating solid food (still the easiest baby in the history of the world), the R's are braving swim lessons, Tal is learning swim strokes and starting 4th grade in 3 weeks, and we're drowning in work.  Here's to a better August.
